Como have now gone eight matches unbeaten across all competitions (W5, D3) after securing a hard-fought draw in a goalless Serie A match against Udinese at the Bluenergy Stadium.
Como are firmly in the race for a spot in the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history, and the opening ten minutes clearly showcased why Cesc Fabregas’s squad is among the most in-form teams in the league.
Diego Carlos issued an early warning with a shot that flew just wide, closely followed by Maximo Perrone’s effort that was comfortably gathered by Maduka Okoye. In response to a strong start from their opponents, Arthur Atta unleashed a powerful strike in the 11th minute, which was expertly parried away by Jean Butez.
Controversy erupted at the Bluenergy Stadium just nine minutes later when Atta fell in the penalty area. Despite passionate protests, referee Fabio Maresca dismissed the claims, waving away appeals for a penalty.
A quieter period ensued, but before the break, both teams exchanged chances, with Nico Paz forcing a smart save from Okoye, while Butez instinctively blocked a shot from Hassane Kamara at the other end.

Similar to much of the first half, the second half began rather lacklustre in terms of meaningful chances, with only Christian Kabasele’s shot in the 57th minute really troubling Butez.
As neither side managed to break the deadlock, both Kosta Runjaic and Fabregas looked to their benches for inspiration. One of those substitutions nearly proved decisive, with Como’s Sergi Roberto heading just over the bar.
It didn’t take long for one of Udinese’s substitutes to carve out an opportunity, as Idrissa Gueye’s powerful shot forced a save from Butez, marking the final noteworthy attempt of the match.
The draw allows Como to extend their lead to four points over Juventus, their nearest challengers in the race for Champions League qualification, although they have played one more match. Meanwhile, Udinese are now two points off the top half of Serie A, having lost just one of their last five games (W2, D2).
