Adam Reynolds is determined not to let the noise surrounding the Broncos’ outstanding pre-season distract from the team’s preparations as they approach round one.
After facing a difficult spell at the end of the previous season, which saw coach Kevin Walters lose his position, the Broncos have displayed impressive form in the lead-up to this season, suggesting they are poised to return to their winning ways.
Under the guidance of Michael Maguire in his inaugural season as coach, many analysts have tipped the Broncos to finish in the top four and potentially compete for the premiership.
However, Reynolds is acutely aware that pre-season performances can often be misleading when it comes to assessing a team’s true potential.
“We haven’t achieved anything yet,” the Broncos captain stated.

“Speculation can be entertaining, but if you start listening to external opinions, you risk losing your focus and getting left behind.
“We’re aware that we’ve had a solid pre-season and have put in the effort, but we must remain grounded.
“Nothing has been achieved yet. We haven’t even kicked off our season.
“There’s still plenty of hard work ahead, and we need to approach each week with the same level of importance.
“We’ve laid a solid foundation and are setting ourselves up for a promising season…we just need to ensure that we show up with the right attitude when the time comes to play.”
This season, Reynolds will be joined by seasoned player Ben Hunt, who will take on a halfback role due to Ezra Mam’s absence in the opening rounds.
The 34-year-old, who captained the Dragons from 2021 until his exit last year, is expected to provide leadership alongside Reynolds within the Broncos squad.

While Hunt’s return has generated excitement, many will be observing closely how he gels with Reynolds in the halves.
“Having another leader in the squad is fantastic,” Reynolds commented on Hunt’s addition.
“His experience is invaluable. He knows when to make a move and when to hold back.
“He possesses a strong understanding of the game, and his competitive nature inspires those around him.
“It’s crucial to have high-calibre players in the squad. He’s a proven winner, having demonstrated his capabilities on the grandest of stages.
“His presence will be a valuable asset, as he brings a sense of calmness to the game.
“In moments of chaos, it’s beneficial to have an experienced player who can gauge the situation and steer us back to our fundamentals.”
