Frank Ponissi has dismissed “embarrassing” speculation regarding a potential transfer to the Sea Eagles, reaffirming his dedication to his position with the Storm.
The long-serving general manager of Melbourne has played a pivotal role in establishing a period of sustained success for the club, having developed a solid rapport with both players and coach Craig Bellamy.
Ponissi has held his role for nearly two decades and is contracted until 2029.

This week, reports from News Corp linked Ponissi to the Sea Eagles following the sudden dismissal of coach Anthony Seibold.
In an interview on SEN Radio on Wednesday, Ponissi firmly denied any talks had occurred and made it clear he had no plans to leave Melbourne.
“It’s a bit embarrassing, all this media chatter,” he remarked.
“We should be focusing on players and coaches … not 60-year-old football managers.
“Clearly, it’s been a slow week for the media up north. I have no idea how this has emerged, but I haven’t had any conversations with anyone.”
“With three years left on my contract, I’m very content in my current position. I love the club, the people I work with, and what I do. So, I’ve no idea where this speculation originated, and the sooner it ends, the better.”

Ponissi also extended his support to Manly’s current head of football, Peter Gentle, who is facing scrutiny following Seibold’s departure.
“Importantly, they have an excellent GM in Peter Gentle; he’s a good bloke and a capable operator,” Ponissi added.
“Once again, I have no clue how this rumour emerged, and I hope it gets put to rest.”
Following the departure of coach Seibold just three games into the season, Manly has appointed club legend and premiership winner Kieran Foran as interim coach.
Foran, alongside notable names such as Matt Ballin, Michael Ennis, and Brad Arthur, is part of a list of candidates vying for the permanent head coach position for 2027.
