Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is set to feature for the Premier League club again this season, with the team announcing on Wednesday that the muscle injury he sustained is not as severe as initially believed.
Salah was substituted during Liverpool’s 3-1 victory against Crystal Palace due to a suspected hamstring issue, which raised concerns about the potential end of his season and even his career at Anfield, especially with the Egyptian contemplating a departure at the conclusion of the season.
Egypt’s national team director, Ibrahim Hassan, indicated that Salah could require four weeks of treatment for a hamstring tear, which would have effectively sidelined him before the World Cup. However, the club has since confirmed that it is a minor muscle injury.
“Liverpool FC can confirm that Mohamed Salah is likely to be available to play again before the conclusion of this season,” the club stated in an announcement.
“The problem that led to his withdrawal has now been identified as a minor muscle injury.
“It is expected that Salah will return to the pitch ahead of the end of the 2025-26 season and prior to his expected move from the Reds this summer.”
Known as ‘The Egyptian King’, Salah ranks third on Liverpool’s all-time leading scorers list, having netted 257 goals in 440 appearances.
Liverpool currently sits fourth in the league standings with 58 points, and they are next scheduled to play away against Manchester United on Sunday.
