Feyenoord have set their sights on challenging PSV as the Rotterdam club rekindles a previously lost spark.
After a somewhat shaky beginning to the season under manager Robin van Persie, Feyenoord celebrated their third straight victory on Wednesday evening, defeating FC Groningen 4-1.
This win propelled Feyenoord to third place in the Dutch Eredivisie, now just five points behind PSV, who recently faced a setback against Ajax over the weekend.
Players from PSV have candidly expressed their current difficulties, acknowledging that their primary objective is now to secure second place after losing touch with Ajax and experiencing their worst form following the winter break since 1960.
Feyenoord’s right-back Givairo Read is keen to make an impact following their first Eredivisie winning streak of 2025. “Achieving third place was our aim, but if there’s a chance to do better, why not?” Read commented to ESPN.
“Our dreams were already flickering, but now they’re burning even brighter. We are going to give it our all.”
Feyenoord teammate Antoni Milambo shares Read’s optimism, believing they can pose a threat to PSV. “I reckon it’s achievable; we’ll take it one step at a time. Right now, our priority is the away match against AZ.”
