Golf icon Gary Player has faced criticism for making a “creepy” remark towards a female reporter during The Masters.
The 90-year-old, who has secured three Masters titles, directed his comments at Sky Sports golf journalist Anna Jackson during the traditional par-3 tournament on Thursday morning (AEST).
As she began to introduce Player on the UK’s broadcast, he interrupted her.

“I’m here with the …,” she began before Player interjected with a comment aimed at the camera crew.
“How are you guys? No wonder you’re smiling working with this good-looking chick, eh…”
Jackson appeared taken aback by the remark but managed to keep her cool and continued with the interview.
“Well, Mr Player, what an introduction that is … You’re certainly one of the three legendary honorary starters for Thursday morning. It’s great to see you back for the par 3, looking good and playing some excellent golf. How are you feeling?”
Viewers were quick to express their disapproval online, labelling the comments as “creepy” and “inappropriate”, while others pointed out Player’s advanced age.
Jackson is well-respected in the golf community and also works with NBC and the Golf Channel in the United States. She is believed to be in her mid-30s, which is less than a third of Player’s age.

The interview proceeded without further incident, with Player lauding his remarkable fitness that has allowed him to keep playing golf at a high level, despite being far older than many of his contemporaries who have long since retired from the sport.
“I’m 90 years old, and I’m still shooting par,” Player stated.
“I’ve already scored three birdies. It’s a thrill for me. I’ve been coming here for 68 years, back to when one of my heroes, President Eisenhower, was in attendance.”
Player is one of three Masters legends, alongside Tom Watson and Jack Nicklaus, who are invited annually to hit the ceremonial first tee shots on Thursday morning at Augusta.
