On Tuesday night, Coventry ensured their promotion to the Premier League as champions, clinching the Championship title with a commanding victory over Portsmouth.
With their promotion already secured, Frank Lampard’s Coventry dominated Portsmouth, securing a 5-1 victory that established an unassailable 10-point lead at the top of the table with two matches remaining.
Millwall ascended to second place after a 3-1 triumph at Stoke, putting them three points ahead of Ipswich, who have two games in hand and are set to face Charlton on Wednesday.
Wrexham also enjoyed a successful night, re-entering the promotion playoff spots ahead of Hull on goal difference, following a narrow 1-0 win against relegation-threatened Oxford, thanks to a goal from Josh Windass.
Leicester relegated to third tier
After being demoted to the second-tier Championship last season, Leicester faced a disheartening second successive relegation after a 2-2 draw at home against promotion hopefuls Hull at King Power Stadium, which was marked by numerous empty seats.
Leicester needed a victory against the Tigers to delay their relegation at least for one more day, but they found themselves a goal down after just 18 minutes when Liam Miller capitalised on a mistake from goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.
However, the hopes of the supporters were briefly revived when Jordan James equalised from the penalty spot in the 52nd minute, quickly followed by Luke Thomas putting Leicester ahead just two minutes later. Unfortunately for the home fans, any excitement was short-lived, as Oli McBurnie levelled the score in the 63rd minute.
