Australian cricket sensation David Warner has signed on with the London Spirit for the upcoming season of The Hundred.
At 38 years old, Warner has been absent from the English competition since he was contracted by the Southern Brave in 2020, a season that was ultimately cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This past IPL auction saw Warner left unsold, and he was unable to attract interest from any teams in The Hundred during the last season. However, he will now reunite with his former coach, Justin Langer.
Throughout his IPL career, Warner has showcased his talent with an impressive strike rate of 140 and an average exceeding 40, amassing a total of 6,565 runs.

This exciting move for the former captain will see him engaging regularly with the Marylebone Cricket Club fans at Lord’s.
It’s also been quite some time since he last interacted with the crowd, notably following his controversial stumping of Jonny Bairstow during the Ashes.
“Any competition featuring David Warner is a bonus,” remarked Oval Invincibles captain Sam Billings to BBC Sport, emphasising the benefit of having the Australian on board.
“He’s a real crowd-puller, and the experience of playing with him is vastly different from facing him. I’ve learned so much from him, both on the field and regarding leadership.”
“I can’t praise him enough.”
Warner’s contract, worth $247,000 AUD, places him outside the top tier of earners in the men’s tournament.
In contrast, England’s Jamie Overton will also be part of the Spirit, having secured a deal in the highest earnings bracket, around $410,000 AUD.
Similarly, Afghanistan’s Noor Ahmad and New Zealand’s Michael Bracewell have both signed deals worth $410,000 AUD as well.
The tournament is set to kick off on 5 August.
