A fresh chapter for the Dragons has commenced on an encouraging note, as they secured a 26-8 victory in a trial match against the Roosters.
New signings including Clint Gutherson, Val Holmes, Lachlan Ilias, Damien Cook, and Emre Guler all showcased their skills at Jubilee Stadium, with Cook crossing for the second try of the evening.
While the attention was on the new arrivals, it was Kyle Flanagan who made an early impact, scoring in the 18th minute.
Flanagan concluded the match with two try assists, a linebreak assist, and a linebreak, setting an impressive tone for the season.

Following tries from Flanagan and Cook, Sione Finau found the try line next, before Dom Young responded for the Roosters, bringing the score to 18-4 at half time.
Young talent Tyreece Tait then narrowed the gap for the Roosters early in the second half.
Nevertheless, the Dragons finished strong, with Kade Reed and Mikaele Ravalawa both crossing for tries.
Dragons coach Shane Flanagan expressed frustration at his side’s 13 errors compared to the Roosters’ seven, but Michael Ennis is optimistic about the team’s performance.
“I think he’ll be quite pleased,” he commented on Fox League.
“Although there were times he looked disappointed from the coaching box, I believe when he reviews the game, he’ll be heartened by the excitement and energy displayed by his team.
“I thought his side out-enthused the Roosters.”
