It has been 13 years since Adam Scott made history as the first Australian to clinch a victory at The Masters.
Many Aussie fans can vividly recall the moment he sank the decisive putt on the 10th green, securing his win in the 2013 tournament during a tense playoff against Argentina’s Angel Cabrera.
Since that unforgettable triumph, Scott’s performances at Augusta have been steady, though not necessarily spectacular — with a tie for ninth as his best result, he has managed to avoid missing the cut except for once.
Although he hasn’t tasted victory since the 2020 Genesis Invitational, Scott arrives at Augusta placed No.25 in the world rankings — just three spots shy of his career best — after a commendable fourth-place finish at the Genesis.

This year also marks a significant milestone for Scott—his 25th appearance at The Masters and his 98th consecutive major tournament appearance.
“It feels like I haven’t quite managed to put everything together to secure a win this season, but it’s been quite close,” he commented.
“There’s a very slim margin at the top of the leaderboards between success and missing out, but I wouldn’t be surprised if everything fell into place for me to contend this week, which is ultimately the goal.”
“So, I’m feeling optimistic and think it’s definitely achievable.”
Scott is part of a quartet of Australians participating in this tournament, alongside Min Woo Lee, Cameron Smith, and Jason Day.
The opening round is set to commence on Thursday night.

Can Scottie Scheffler achieve greatness?
Scheffler aims to maintain his pattern of winning in even-numbered years at The Masters — having won in 2022 and again in 2024 — potentially joining the elite group of players with three green jackets.
However, his recent form raises some concerns.
He kicked off the year with a victory at The American Express and followed up with strong top-five finishes in Phoenix and Pebble Beach. Yet, he has struggled lately, finishing outside the top 10 in his last three tournaments and dropping out of the top 20 in his last two outings.
Is Tiger Woods participating in The Masters?
Tiger Woods will notably miss The Masters for the second consecutive year. He was arrested on March 27 in Florida due to a driving under the influence charge. Although no alcohol was detected in his system, authorities found him impaired, citing opioid painkillers which were discovered in his pocket at the scene.
Woods pled not guilty last week and subsequently announced his indefinite leave to seek treatment.
This absence has been a topic of discussion, especially with Jason Day questioning Woods’ decision to drive.
Can McIlroy repeat his success?
Regardless of the outcome this week at Augusta, it will be challenging to surpass the drama of last year.
In one of the most unforgettable Masters tournaments to date, Rory McIlroy lost a four-shot lead on the back nine, reclaimed it, lost it again, and ultimately found himself in a playoff with England’s Justin Rose. The Northern Irish golfer triumphed on the first extra hole with a gap wedge that landed within a metre for birdie, celebrating by dropping to his knees in emotional relief as he touched his forehead to the green.
After 11 years, the career Grand Slam was finally his, marking a significant achievement.
This year, McIlroy hopes to join the ranks of only four players to win back-to-back Masters titles, the first since Woods in 2001-02. The first two to do so were Nicklaus (1965–66) and Nick Faldo (1989–90).
