How a Crazy Final Weekend Determined the Top Six
Having maintained their position at the top of the league for a considerable part of the season, the Newcastle Jets clinched their first-ever Premiership in the penultimate round, then followed it up with a convincing 4-0 victory over rivals Central Coast Mariners in the F3 Derby.
Adelaide United clinched second place in a dramatic turn of events, with striker Luka Jovanovic netting a 98th-minute winner against Melbourne City at AAMI Park, enabling the Reds to shift from the Elimination Finals directly to the Semi-Finals.
UNBELIEVABLE DRAMA! Adelaide grabs second place with last-minute winner.
This late goal from Jovanovic saw Auckland FC go from having a bye to hosting an Elimination Final, but their third-place finish secures them a home game at Go Media Stadium on Saturday.

Melbourne Victory rounded off the season in fourth place, sealing a home Elimination Final at AAMI Park thanks to a solid 2-0 win over last-placed Western Sydney Wanderers.
Sydney FC appeared poised to finish in second on the last day of the regular season, taking the lead twice against Auckland FC at Allianz Stadium, but a late equaliser saw them drop to fifth on the ladder.
The reigning champions, Melbourne City, were also competing for a home Elimination Final spot, but Adelaide’s dramatic late game turned saw them end up sixth, securing a date with Auckland FC in the Elimination Finals.
