Ajax and striker Kasper Dolberg are set for another split as technical director Jordi Cruyff has green-lighted the sale of the Danish forward.
Kasper Dolberg, aged 28, returned to Ajax in September 2025 after a stint at OGC Nice beginning from his initial departure in 2019. Following the transfer of striker Brian Brobbey to Sunderland on deadline day, Ajax swiftly secured Dolberg with a €10 million deal from Anderlecht, officially announcing his return just one hour and 15 minutes before the transfer window closed.
Injuries have hindered Dolberg’s second tenure with the Amsterdam side, with his performance falling short of expectations as he has managed a mere 3 goals and 3 assists in 19 Eredivisie fixtures. His last domestic league goal came in January, and he last started on February 21 against NEC, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
In Ajax’s latest Eredivisie match against lowly Heracles Almelo, interim manager Óscar García opted to leave Dolberg on the sidelines, instead giving game time to young prospect Don-Angelo Konadu after substituting starter Wout Weghorst.

According to an article from Algemeen Dagblad, Dolberg’s time in the Dutch capital may be short-lived as technical director Cruyff is inclined to move the 56-time Danish international on, primarily due to his off-the-ball work rate and lack of pressing.
“Dolberg does not align with our playing style,” journalist Johan Inan from Algemeen Dagblad reports Cruyff’s views, highlighting a clear disparity in distance covered between Dolberg (10km) and Weghorst (12km).
Cruyff is poised to revamp the Ajax roster, aiming to recruit between 10 to 15 new players, with up to six of them expected to join the starting line-up.
Currently, Ajax occupies fifth place in the Eredivisie, trailing second-placed Feyenoord by four points in the pursuit of UEFA Champions League qualification.
Kasper Dolberg is contracted to Ajax until July 2029.
