Manchester United’s interim manager, Michael Carrick, has expressed that the frequent changes in leadership within the Premier League have no bearing on his approach to the role. He is determined to concentrate on the broader objectives of the club rather than his own future.
Liam Rosenior’s exit from Chelsea on Wednesday highlighted the fact that he became the 10th managerial change in England’s top division this season.
Carrick, who stepped in at United in January after the dismissal of Ruben Amorim, mentioned that it’s crucial to find a balance between achieving immediate results and planning for the long-term.
“There are two sides to it,” the 44-year-old stated during a press conference on Thursday.
“While instant results and the importance of the next game are clear, there’s also a responsibility to consider what the future holds and the larger picture at hand. There are many uncertainties in life. Is the glass half full or half empty? Personally, I prefer to maintain a positive outlook. I focus on what can be accomplished rather than what might go wrong. What does success look like to us?”
Under Carrick’s management, United have shown significant improvement, securing eight victories and two draws from their last 12 encounters, placing them third in the league. Just six points from their next five matches will guarantee Champions League qualification after a two-year hiatus.
Manchester United’s next challenge is against Brentford on Monday.
