Brisbane Roar has officially announced the appointment of Englishman James Gow as their new full-time Sporting Director.
The club views this as a ‘key footballing appointment’, with Gow’s impressive CV highlighting a diverse range of experience acquired across the globe.
Previously, the Englishman dedicated 13 years to Premier League powerhouse Liverpool, where he took on multiple roles spanning performance analysis to academy coaching, and he possesses a UEFA Pro Licence.
Additionally, Gow led the academy for UAE Champions Al Jazira in Abu Dhabi, and most recently served as Sporting Director for Danish club Aalborg BK.
“I’m thrilled to be joining Brisbane Roar at such a pivotal time for the club,” stated Gow.

In his new capacity at Brisbane Roar, Gow will be responsible for overseeing the Men’s, Women’s, and youth development pathways, with a distinct mandate to form a unified club identity, a signature style of play, and a modern framework for the finest young footballers in Queensland.
This new appointment will enable Brisbane Roar’s Chief Operating Officer Zac Anderson to funnel more of his attention into the operational and commercial aspects of the football club while still supporting Gow in his new role.
