SC Braga secured their place in the UEFA Europa League (UEL) semi-finals with a thrilling 4-2 victory over Real Betis in the second leg, culminating in a 5-3 win on aggregate.
After a 1-1 stalemate in the first leg last week, Manuel Pellegrini’s men pushed hard for a spot in the last four, with Antony skillfully nodding in Abde Ezzalzouli’s deflected cross to net a well-deserved opener for the hosts in the 13th minute.
The atmosphere inside Estadio de La Cartuja soared as Ezzalzouli struck again, elegantly finishing Pablo Fornals’ cutback 12 minutes later to extend Betis’ lead to 2-0.
Betis seemed to be in control at this point, with Ezzalzouli scoring again on Antony’s assist, but VAR denied the goal due to an offside infringement involving the former Manchester United winger.
With the momentum swinging in Braga’s favour, ex-Barcelona forward Pau Victor found the net just before half-time, capitalising on a defensive blunder between Betis defenders Marc Bartra and Diego Llorente.
This moment spurred Braga into action right after the break.
Vitor Carvalho’s towering header brought them level at 2-2, and the Portuguese side continued to surge forward, taking the lead in the 53rd minute.

In a fitting conclusion to their comeback, the club’s star player Ricardo Horta secured the win by converting a penalty kick, after a clumsy challenge by Sofyan Amrabat on Demir Tiknaz left Betis stunned.
As the match heated up towards a thrilling finish, Betis fought valiantly to find a way back.
However, Braga sealed their triumph in the 75th minute when a poorly executed header from Ricardo Rodriguez fell invitingly for Jean-Baptiste Gorby at the edge of the Betis area, who made no mistake, firing past Pau Lopez to send Braga into ecstasy in Andalucia.
Carlos Vicens’ squad will now face Bundesliga club Freiburg in the semi-finals, with the first leg set for April 30th, marking their first appearance at this stage of the competition since their loss to Porto in the 2011 final.
Meanwhile, Betis will shift their focus back to LaLiga this coming weekend, currently sitting fifth in the standings. Finishing in that position would ensure Champions League qualification, provided the Spanish top-flight gains an additional spot for the upcoming season.
