Thomas Frank has not dismissed the possibility of Christian Eriksen making a return to Brentford once his contract with Manchester United expires, speaking at a virtual press conference attended by Danish media on Monday.
Brentford is keeping a close eye on Eriksen’s situation, given that he had a six-month stint with the London club at the start of 2022.
“Christian is an exceptional player, arguably the finest Danish player in recent years. His performance against Portugal demonstrated that he remains in great form, and it’s clear that he has the desire to continue playing,” Frank stated.
The club brought Eriksen on board after he had an ICD device fitted following a cardiac arrest during EURO 2021, which rendered him ineligible to play in Serie A for Inter.
During his time at Brentford, Eriksen made 11 appearances, scoring once, before transferring to Manchester United in the summer of 2022.
“He had a wonderful experience while he was with us. That’s certainly the feedback I’ve received from him, and we truly enjoyed having him. I’m open to considering all players, but various factors will influence whether someone joins us again.”
According to TV2 Sport, Frank refrained from commenting on whether any discussions are underway between the two clubs, but noted that “everything remains on the table.”
This season, Christian Eriksen has played in 17 Premier League matches for Manchester United, with nine of those being starts.
