Bulldogs rookie Jack Todd has certainly given coach Cameron Ciraldo a lot to ponder following his standout performance in the team’s trial match victory against the Tigers.
Todd was quick to make his mark, scoring late in the first half at Jubilee Stadium, just seconds after being subbed onto the field.
The lock showcased his playmaking skills by faking out the defence and breaking through near the goal line, finally unlocking the scoreboard after a sluggish start from both teams.

Two additional tries followed during the half, with Tigers young talent Heath Mason scoring, while winger Ratu Rinakama ensured the Bulldogs led 10-6 at halftime with a well-placed effort in the corner.
The Tigers emerged from the break more energised and quickly took the lead with a double from Solomona Faataape.
In the 57th minute, Rinakama brought the scores level again by crossing in the corner for his second try.
Canterbury displayed their prowess on the edges shortly after, with Jonathan Sua diving over for his first try of the day, taking the score to 20-14.
The Bulldogs looked poised to seal the win in the dying moments with Ragarive Wavik crossing, but a review by the Bunker showed his foot was out of play.
This chance was set up by Todd once more, who evaded the Tigers’ defence from halfway, slicing through their line.
The 22-year-old beat three defenders before executing a cut-out pass to Wavik, who unfortunately couldn’t capitalise on the opportunity.
“He’s stepping like Benji Marshall,” remarked caller Andrew Voss on Fox, praising Todd’s footwork.
“The footwork from Todd was outstanding for a player of his size… take note,” added Cooper Cronk enthusiastically.
Todd’s impressive display comes just days after he signed a new contract with the Bulldogs, securing his future with the club until the end of the 2026 season.
