As the climactic stage of the season approaches in Europe, traditionally, this is when the standout players rise to the occasion for their clubs. With prominent talents like Lamine Yamal featuring prominently in our latest Team of the Week, it seems they are firmly in their stride.
Utilising our internal assessment system, we have compiled a best XI reflecting all the recent action.
Here’s our current Team of the Week:

Goalkeeper
David de Gea (Fiorentina) – 9.1
The former Manchester United goalkeeper has earned acclaim over the years for his remarkable shot-stopping abilities, securing unexpected yet invaluable clean sheets for his team. While most of his stunning performances were during his tenure at Manchester United, last night saw De Gea display his skills at Fiorentina.
He made six pivotal saves and denied approximately 1.83 goals (let’s say two for the sake of simplicity), playing a vital role in Fiorentina’s crucial victory in their fight for Serie A survival. It was a phenomenal display from a keeper who stood firm against Lazio’s relentless efforts, further solidifying his popularity in Florence.
Defence
Mats Weiffer (Brighton) – 9.0
It’s a classic case of waiting all season for your first goal, only for two to arrive simultaneously. Dutch full-back Mats Weiffer experienced such a day, netting twice to lead Brighton to a 2-0 triumph over Burnley.
Both strikes arrived at the close of each half, with the second representing the highlight of the duo. Positioned at the box’s edge, he exhibited excellent composure to find the bottom corner.
His defensive contributions were commendable as well, winning 10 out of 15 duels and achieving four successful tackles as the Seagulls chase a European spot for next season.
Konstantinos Mavropanos (West Ham) – 9.1
Another Premier League defender finding the back of the net twice over the weekend was West Ham’s Konstantinos Mavropanos. The Greek international’s goals helped secure a 4-0 drubbing of struggling Wolves, following a brace from Taty Castellanos.
Both of Mavropanos’ goals originated from corners; his first was a commanding header, followed by a delicate volley that contradicted the usual expectations of a centre-back.
Defensively, he was a rock, making five interceptions and six recoveries while winning 11 out of 13 duels.
Finn Surman (Portland Timbers) – 8.5
Phill Neville’s Portland Timbers celebrated their first win since late February with a 2-1 victory over LAFC.
A significant portion of the credit for this win goes to New Zealand international Surman, who delivered an outstanding performance in defence.
His standout stats included a league-high five interceptions, eight clearances, and two blocks while winning all of his seven duels.
David Raum (RB Leipzig) – 9.1
Back in the Bundesliga, David Raum continues to enjoy the most prosperous season of his career and was in fine form during his side’s win over Gladbach.
The German international contributed not only to their clean sheet but was also a constant attacking threat, delivering a game-high eight key passes and creating two clear-cut chances.
With four victories in their last five matches, Leipzig remains in contention for a Champions League berth next season, and Raum’s continued excellence will be crucial.
Midfield
Leon Goretzka (Bayern) – 8.9
Remaining in Germany, omnipotent Bayern cruised to a 5-0 triumph over St Pauli.
Leon Goretzka was among two Bayern players to shine, scoring their second goal in the 53rd minute and assisting the third just two minutes later.
His close-range goal set a new record for the most goals scored in a single Bundesliga season.
After a period of relative drought, Goretzka emerges as a pivotal figure as Bayern pursue silverware this season.
Anderson Talisca (Fenerbahce) – 9.1
The title race intensifies in the Super Lig as Galatasaray continue to drop points, with Fenerbahce defeating Kayserispor 4-0 to narrow the gap at the top to two points with just five games remaining.
Brazilian veteran Talisca was central to Fenerbahce’s success, netting a brace in the latter half and providing an assist for N’Golo Kante as they notched their first goal before halftime.
Demonstrating precision, Talisca misplaced only three passes during the match while leading in most offensive metrics.
Lamine Yamal (Barcelona) – 9.8
It’s difficult to overstate the impact of the prodigious Lamine Yamal. The Barcelona winger once again showcased his talent in a memorable performance leading to a 4-1 victory over Catalan rivals, Espanyol.
This success clinched a nine-point advantage at the pinnacle of LaLiga for Barca. Yamal scored the third goal, expertly racing behind the defence to net with finesse.
He also assisted two goals, including a perfectly delivered corner for Ferran Torres to head in, before setting him up again later in the match.
The young Spaniard’s significance to the team is immense, and at just 18, he handles this pressure with remarkable composure.

Guilherme (Houston Dynamo) – 9.3
Returning to the MLS, Brazilian Guilherme had a mixed day. He was sensational for the Houston Dynamo, playing a crucial role in both goals; however, his teammates let him down by conceding six in a disheartening defeat to Colorado Rapids.
Guilherme has made a notable start to the season, scoring five goals in six appearances, and on this occasion, he achieved a career milestone against the Rapids.
Forwards
Nicolas Jackson (Bayern) – 9.1
After a four-match absence, Nicolas Jackson demonstrated his value as a substitute for Harry Kane in the Bayern lineup.
He netted a goal and provided an assist during the rout of St Pauli, proving a constant threat throughout the match. With 14 touches in the box, he had three shots on target— the highest of the game.
His only blemish was a big chance missed on an otherwise stellar day.
Donyell Malen (Roma) – 9.2
Donyell Malen’s loan move from Aston Villa to Roma has had its ups and downs. Despite racking up 10 goals in 12 matches, inconsistent performances had left him searching for the adoration of the Roma fans.
However, he made a swift turnaround over the weekend. Malen scored a hat-trick in a 3-0 victory against relegation-threatened Pisa, keeping the Italian capital club firmly in the race for Champions League qualification next year.
All three goals were classic striker finishes, with the standout effort coming just three minutes in, curling the ball past the goalkeeper into the top corner.
