Niklas Bendtner, the former Danish forward for Arsenal, has lauded Morten Hjulmand, the captain of Sporting, suggesting he is well-prepared for a move to one of Europe’s elite leagues after two impressive seasons at Alvalade.
“I must admit that I wasn’t very familiar with Hjulmand a couple of years back, but he has truly made an impression on me. Not only with the national team but also at Sporting, where he leads as captain, which is a significant achievement,” Bendtner remarked during his podcast, Stolpe ind.
“His style of play, combined with his competitive mentality, makes him fit for clubs in England or Spain, particularly at the top-tier teams; there’s absolutely no doubt about that,” he added.
“Hjulmand is not interested in moving to a club that isn’t in the hunt for trophies; he seeks teams that are capable of winning. I believe he is skilled enough to thrive in either the Premier League or La Liga,” said the former striker, who even recommended two clubs in England.
“He would fit seamlessly into Newcastle’s midfield, which boasts an incredible dynamic with three key players. I also feel that he could flourish at Aston Villa. Both clubs have brought in a wealth of talent, and I genuinely think Hjulmand could further his development there,” he explained.
