Former Wales captain Aaron Ramsey has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 35.
Ramsey made his professional debut with Cardiff City in 2006 and later played for prominent clubs such as Arsenal, Juventus, and Nice. He returned to Cardiff for a second spell from 2023 to 2025.
His last game was with Mexican club Pumas UNAM, who ended his contract last year.
“This has been a challenging decision,” Ramsey stated. “After much reflection, I have chosen to retire from football.”
Over his international career, Ramsey earned 86 caps for Wales since his debut in 2008, netting 21 goals.
“It has been an honour to wear the Welsh jersey and to enjoy so many remarkable moments in it. I couldn’t have done this without the fantastic support from all the managers I’ve played for and the staff who have assisted me throughout my journey,” he added.
