Nottingham Forest’s skipper, Morgan Gibbs-White, praised his team’s outstanding performance against Sunderland on Friday night.
Gibbs-White found the back of the net as Forest secured a dominant 5-0 victory at the Stadium of Light.
Speaking after the match, he expressed: “It was something special. I didn’t think we could surpass our last performance, but we’ve managed it again. Massive credit to the lads and the confidence and belief we currently have in the dressing room as we head into games.”
“A lot of that stems from the gaffer, who shows faith in his players and instills confidence during training sessions, enabling us to deliver strong performances. We’ve always recognised our resilience; the beginning of the season was challenging, but we’re finding our footing now.”
“We have a solid style of play and understand one another well. The team put on an exceptional display.”
Gibbs-White was equally pleased to see Chris Wood find the net once again.
He added: “Earlier in the season, we missed Chris due to injury, and he was always my preferred target. This season brought a different set of circumstances, so I’ve been trying to get into the box more. I’ve been working on it in training, and it’s showing in our matches, which makes me really happy.”
“Chris has faced a tough time being sidelined for so long. Although he’s had a few appearances, he hadn’t scored yet, so my first thought was to set him up. He absolutely deserves it; he’s been diligent in getting back fit for the latter part of the season to support the team. I had complete confidence he would finish the chance.”
“When he took that touch, I worried he might be offside. But strikers have a knack for being in the right place at the right time. The moment I passed it to him, I knew he was going to score.”
