Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has indicated that his team must secure victories in all their remaining fixtures if they aim to claim the Premier League title.
City ascended to the top of the Premier League standings following a tense 1-0 victory over Burnley, who, as a result, have been relegated back to the Championship.
As we enter the final five matches, a genuine title race is unfolding, with Arsenal no longer occupying the league’s peak for the first time since September.
In an interview with Match of the Day after the match, Guardiola conceded that City must perform flawlessly to secure the trophy.
“We played exceptionally well, though we unfortunately squandered numerous opportunities. Our defence was stronger in the second half. We encountered fewer issues post-half-time,” he remarked.
Reflecting on the challenging match following their intense fixture against Arsenal: “It was a very taxing game on Sunday. It’s not easy to recover just three days later, but in the Premier League, adaptation is crucial.
“We’re accustomed to this. We competed admirably and produced a strong performance, but it’s disappointing to have missed so many chances.”
“Now, we have the FA Cup on Saturday, followed by five more games. Our only option is to win every one of them.”
